Turn two-factor authentication on or off
Add a second step to sign-in, or turn it back off — both from your own profile, no admin required.
Turn on two-factor authentication
From your profile's security section, switch two-factor authentication on. Scan the code with an authenticator app and enter the six-digit code it generates to confirm the link — from your very next sign-in, Knowella asks for that code after your password.
- Authenticator app — Any standard TOTP app works — scan once to link it to your account.
- Confirm to activate — Enter the generated code once to switch the setting on.
- Applies from the next sign-in — Every sign-in after this one asks for the code too.
Turn it off
If you no longer want the extra step, open the same security section and switch two-factor authentication off. Confirm with your password, and sign-in goes back to password only from that point on.
Why it matters
A password can leak; a code generated on your own phone can't be reused by whoever took it. Turning two-factor authentication on is the single biggest step a user can take to keep their own account safe — and leaving the control in each person's hands means nobody has to wait on an admin to switch it on for them.
