Build an app in App Builder
Turn any form, inspection, or process into a live Knowella app — from a blank template to something your team can use.
Give the app its identity
The tour starts on the first step of the builder, where an app gets its name, its cover image, and its type — a form, a training course, a case manager, a project board. Type matters more than it looks: it decides the icon, the colour, and the way records behave once people start filling them in. You also scope the app to a company, facility and category here, which is what determines who sees it.
Drag in the fields you need
On the build canvas the component panel sits on the left and the form grows on the right as fields are dropped in. Text and numeric answers, single and multi choice, checkboxes, dates, signatures, pick lists — each one can be clicked to open its own settings. Fields group into sections and two-, three- or four-column layouts, so a long inspection reads as a handful of tidy blocks rather than an endless list.
- Field types — Text, numeric, choice, checkbox, date & time, signature, pick list.
- Layout — Sections and multi-column rows keep long forms readable.
- Per-field rules — Mark a field required or attach conditional logic as you go.
Decide how records behave
Settings is where the app stops being a form and starts being a tool. Choose the views your team gets — list, kanban, roadmap, Gantt — attach a certificate, generate a QR code for people working in the field, and wire up the automations that move a record onward once it is submitted.
Preview, then publish
The walkthrough closes on preview: the finished app exactly as the person filling it in will meet it. Publishing pushes it to the company and facility you scoped it to, and it is immediately usable on a phone at a workstation or on a laptop in an office.
Why it matters
Buying a fixed module means bending your process to fit somebody else's idea of it. Building the app means the fields, the logic and the views match how your team actually works — and when the process changes, you change the app that afternoon instead of filing a request and waiting a quarter.
