Ask Ella to build an automation

Describe the rule you want in the chat and watch Ella draft it — you review before it goes live.

Writing an automation by hand means knowing the trigger you want, the action that follows and the edge cases in between. Describing it out loud is easier: “if a corrective action sits open for a week, raise the severity and tell the area supervisor.” This walkthrough shows Ella turning that sentence into a working rule, asking for the details she needs as she goes.

Start from a sentence

The tour opens with a request typed into Ella's chat rather than a blank rule form. You describe the outcome you want, not the mechanics — which trigger type it maps to, and which action, is Ella's problem to work out.

She fills the draft in as you answer

The interesting part is on the right of the screen: the automation draft assembles itself while the conversation continues. Ella asks for what she is missing — which form, whose approval, how long the window is — and each answer lands in the rule immediately, so you are watching it take shape rather than waiting for a finished result.

  • ConversationalShe asks for the missing detail instead of failing.
  • Live draftThe rule fills in beside the chat as you answer.
  • Multi-appCan switch to a different form mid-conversation.

Review before anything is live

The draft is a proposal, not a deployment. The walkthrough ends with the completed rule presented for review — change the threshold, swap the approver, drop a step — and only your approval switches it on. An automation nobody checked is exactly the kind that surprises people later.

Why it matters

Automation usually stalls on expertise: the people who know which rules the operation needs are rarely the people comfortable configuring them. Letting them describe it in a sentence removes that gap, and keeping the review step means the person who knows the process is still the one who signs off on it.
