Insights is a generated analysis of the shipments in a project: a headline, cards, charts and key findings, all in one tab. Everything on it is derived from your files, so it is quick to read and easy to check. This guide follows the walkthrough above, using the Barfresh project.

1 · Open the Insights tab

Open the project from Projects and choose Insights in the panel on the right, beside History, Download, Carriers and Explore.

2 · Ask for a change

The box at the top takes instructions in plain English — for example "add spend by state, remove the customer chart", or "forget everything, regenerate from scratch". Click Regenerate to rebuild the analysis.

3 · Read the headline

A short summary of the network sits at the top, with one key fact underneath — in the walkthrough, that every one of the 288 lanes is unique.

4 · Check the data gaps

If the source file is missing a column, a Heads up note lists it — in the walkthrough, commodity, cost, customer, pallets and weight. Anything built on those columns can't be shown, so add the data and regenerate if you need it.

5 · The cards

Cards give the headline numbers at a glance.

  • Total shipments — Across all records.
  • Unique lanes — Distinct origin-to-destination ZIP pairs.
  • Top origins — Where most shipments start, with the count.
  • Top destination — Where most shipments go, with the count.

6 · The charts

Visual analytics shows top lanes by shipments, shipments by destination state, top destination ZIPs and top destination cities. Each chart shows its own total in the Σ chip at its top right.

7 · Check the totals before you quote them

A chart's Σ total covers only what that chart shows — for example, the top lanes chart in the walkthrough totals 8 while the cards count 288 shipments. Compare a chart's total with the cards before quoting a figure from it.

8 · Key findings

The main points are written out and numbered — such as the total shipments, the top destination, where freight originates, and any missing data.

9 · Go deeper

Click Get detailed insights for longer written sections. The date at the bottom shows when the analysis was generated; regenerate it after the project's files change.
