Carriers — inviting carriers to bid on your lanes

Pick the lanes, choose carriers and their contacts, set a respond-by date and send — each carrier gets a personal link with only its lanes.

When you want carriers to bid on a project's lanes, you invite them from the project's Carriers tab. You choose the lanes, then the carriers who should bid on them, and each carrier gets a personal link showing only its lanes, where it can submit rates or decline. Sending invites is the one step in KnowRFP that emails people outside your team. This guide follows the walkthrough above, using the Barfresh project.

1 · Open the Carriers tab

Open the project from Projects and choose Carriers in the panel on the right. Until you've invited anyone it reads "No carriers invited yet."

2 · Start an invitation

Click Invite carriers to bid. The Invite carriers to bid panel opens with the project's name at the top, lanes on the left and carriers on the right.

3 · Pick the lanes

Lanes lists every lane in the project with its origin, destination, ZIP codes, weight, pallets and commodity. The yellow chip counts how many lanes still have no carrier. Filter the list, tick the lanes you want carriers to bid on, or use Tick all.

4 · See who has contracts on them

Once a lane is ticked, the Carriers side shows the carriers for it. Those under With contracts on these lanes come first, each showing how many of your lanes they cover and their lowest price, such as "1/1 lanes · from $233". All carriers lists everyone else in your directory.

5 · Choose carriers and contacts

Tick each carrier who should bid — from the contract list or from All carriers. Where a carrier has more than one contact, choose who receives the link; they all share the same link and the carrier submits one bid.

6 · Add a carrier by email

If a carrier isn't in your directory, use Add by email under Not in the directory?

7 · Check what's covered

Each ticked lane shows the carriers invited on it. The chips update as you go — the number of lanes without a carrier, and how many carriers are invited — and the footer counts carriers and lanes covered, for example "1 carrier · 1/288 lanes covered".

8 · Set a deadline and a note

Choose a Respond by date, and add a note to carriers if you like — it goes in the email, so use it for anything they need to price, such as volumes or how you want rates quoted.

9 · Send the invites

Click Send invites — the button shows how many will go out, such as "Send 1 invite". This emails people outside your team, so check the lanes, carriers and contacts first.
