When to use it

When to use it, and when not to

This assessment is one step in a larger programme. Using it for work that belongs to a neighbouring template produces records that are hard to report on later.

Use it for

  • The event or activity this assessment covers has occurred, or is about to
  • The workspace is being set up, or the register needs an entry added or retired
  • You are running the Vulnerable and Temporary Workers programme and this is one of its steps
  • A linked record needs this one to exist: links training, signage, induction

Not for

  • Young Worker Risk Assessment, which assesses the additional risk to workers under eighteen, covering inexperience, awareness and prohibited tasks.
  • New and Expectant Mother Assessment, which assesses the workplace for a worker who is pregnant, has recently given birth or is breastfeeding.
  • Temporary and Agency Worker Review, which reviews whether agency and short term workers receive the same induction, training and supervision as permanent staff.
  • Anything outside KnowSafe, which belongs in the workspace that owns that process
