The same list of records reads differently depending on what you're doing with it — auditing a batch of them wants a dense grid, working through open ones wants a board. View settings let you pick the layout that fits, and decide exactly which fields show up in it.

Four ways to look at the same records

Select the view type that matches how your team works with the data. Switching views never changes the underlying records — only how they're arranged on screen.

  • GridA dense, sortable table — best for reviewing or auditing a batch of records.
  • KanbanStatus columns, for a team working records through a process.
  • GanttRecords laid out on a timeline, for work with dates and dependencies.
  • ProjectGroups records under a project so related work stays together.

Configure which data shows or hides

Alongside the view type, choose which fields actually appear — a grid dense enough for an audit still shouldn't show every internal field, and a kanban card is more useful with three fields on it than fifteen.

Why it matters

Forcing every team onto one fixed layout means somebody is always working against the grain. Letting each pick grid, kanban, Gantt, or project — and trim the fields to just what they need — means the view matches the work instead of the other way round.
