The three-way match, explained

Comparing a carrier invoice with the contract and your TMS is the simplest way to stop overpaying. Here's how it works.

Three numbers for every load

A three-way match compares three numbers for every load:

  • Carrier invoice: what the carrier is asking for
  • Carrier contract: what you agreed to pay
  • Your TMS: what you expected the load to cost

When all three agree, pay it. When they don't, you need to know why: a different rate basis, an unapproved accessorial, a quantity difference or a missing contract.

Set a sensible threshold

Tiny differences aren't worth anyone's time. Set a variance threshold so small mismatches pass automatically and only real exceptions reach your team.

Make the math visible

The fastest way to resolve a dispute is to show the carrier how the bill should have been calculated. KnowDoc shows the contract math on every exception and lets you invite the carrier to respond to the audit issue.
