Pull up your last big RFP and count the lanes you couldn't price from your own contracts. For most brokers it's somewhere between a handful and a quarter of the bid.
Those lanes are where time disappears: building a carrier list, sending the same email to dozens of carriers, chasing replies, comparing offers in a spreadsheet, and hoping the carrier is who they say they are.
A better way to fill the gaps
- Start from what you know. Your contracts and past carrier responses cover more than you think, especially if responses from earlier bids are reused.
- Invite only the right carriers. Target carriers who run those lanes, and vet them before you invite them.
- Make it easy to answer. Carriers respond faster to a simple link than to a spreadsheet attached to an email.
- Keep sources separate. Your team should always see which rates are contracted and which came from a new bid.
How KnowRFP does it
In KnowRFP you select the uncovered lanes and invite carriers. They see the lanes, frequency and dates, quote all-in or broken down, or upload their own file. Accepted bids drop straight into your proposal, clearly marked apart from your contracted rates.
