The Splitting tab — check a case's load, bill and documents against 3G
Open a case from the Freight Audit list and compare what was extracted from the bill with what's already in 3G: load, freight bill, charges and PODs.
Open the case and switch to Splitting
On the Freight Audit list, click a freight bill. The case opens on the Audit tab; click Splitting next to it. The header and summary cards stay at the top, so you keep the billed amount, expected cost and variance in view.
Know the three panes
The tab is laid out for comparison.
- AI Recommendation (left) — What KnowDoc extracted from the carrier's invoice.
- Current Data (middle) — What's already in 3G for this load.
- Document (right) — The original PDF, so you can check either side against the page.
Check the load matches
Compare Date Received, the stops, Load Number and Carrier on both sides. In the walkthrough both show load 0447166 from C.H. Robinson, Green Bay, WI to Chino, CA, TL, with one order. If the load number differs, the case is about the wrong load and the variance means nothing until that's fixed.
Check the freight bill
A green "No existing freight bill found on this load" means this isn't a duplicate. Compare the Freight Bill # (6246585626 extracted, none yet in 3G), the Type (Original) and the Remittance Location, which says where payment goes.
Compare the charges
Both sides list each charge with its type, accessorial code and amount: Freight $3,089.40, LUM $508.61, FSC $1,387.08 and STOP $0.00, a total of $4,985.09. When the two tables match like this, the money question is settled on the Audit tab, not here.
Check the load documents
The left table shows the documents found in the bill, and a red "POD signature not found" if the POD isn't signed. The right table shows the documents 3G expects; here a POD at pickup and at delivery. Existing Documents (0) means none has been uploaded yet, so ask the carrier for the PODs before closing the case.
When there's no PDF
If the document pane says "No PDF for this case", the carrier bills 3G directly (for example over EDI), so no paperwork reached KnowDoc and the values shown come from 3G. In that case use the Audit tab's charge breakdown and the carrier's own records to resolve the variance.
