The Validation tab — check a case's shipment details against the 3G order
Open a case from the Freight Audit list and compare the PO, weights, volumes, counts and accessorials from the paperwork with the live 3G order, then flag it for review.
Open the case and switch to Validation
On the Freight Audit list, click a freight bill, then click the Validation tab (after Audit and Splitting). The header and summary cards stay at the top.
Know the two sides
Validation — extracted (left) shows the shipment details read from the paperwork for the client (Kestrel Distributors in the walkthrough). 3G — current order (middle) shows the live order with its order number (KDST-3747736). The right pane shows the source PDF when there is one.
Check the PO
The chip next to the extracted heading tells you whether a PO was found. "No PO extracted" means there's nothing on the paperwork to match against the order's PO number (3747736 here), so check the order is the right one using the load and carrier instead.
Compare weights, volumes and counts
Go down both sides field by field.
- Gross Wt / Net Wt (Lb) — 22,132 lb on the 3G order.
- Gross Vol / Net Vol (CuFt) — 1,395 cubic feet.
- HU Count, Piece Count, Flex Unit — 27 handling units, 3,528 pieces, flex unit 18.
- Blank on the left — Means the paperwork didn't state it, not that it's wrong. The 3G value stands.
Check the accessorials
Both sides list the accessorials with their amount and the AR accessorial detail. Lumper Service 508.61 (LUM-508.61-8/20-JSK) appears on both in the walkthrough. A yellow note calls out anything billed that the order doesn't have, here "On the bill but not on the 3G order: STOP".
Flag it and leave a comment
Tick Needs Review to flag the order in 3G for a second look. Under Comment, the Type defaults to Validated By and the Text to today's date (11/03/2026); add a short note if it helps the next person.
When there's no PDF
If the right pane says "No PDF for this case", the carrier bills 3G directly and no paperwork arrived in KnowDoc, so the extracted side will be blank. Validate against the 3G order and the carrier's charges on the Audit tab instead.
